Heh, that drawing is from a little Porn Picnic date with Ruui a few years ago. Ruui is seriously amazing and her drawing skills are like- I don’t even understand how she does it, I’ve seen her draw and it still confuses me.

I’m.. pretty sure she’s just on y!gal/SJ/DA but I am seeing her relatively soon so maybe I can convince her to come on tumblr!

Oh gosh, thank you so much, I’m glad you enjoy my hands and noses! I don’t think I am anywhere near qualified to make any kind of a tutorial as I don’t think I’m too competent at either of these features, HOWEVER! Here’s some relationship guides I have come into the habit of using, especially if a drawing is giving me trouble!

For the noses, I start with the perspective of the brow, and from there, try to figure out what shape and angle the nose would be seen from? That’s a really helpful starting point for me! I find that laying down a few spacial clues gives me a better idea of where the nose belongs.

With hands, if I feel like I’m losing the form or I don’t understand how the fingers would look in perspective, I try to start over simple and imagine the hand as basic shapes. This usually helps me get a little more organized and in a better place to start fleshing out the features. (If all else fails, you can always look at your own hands!)

TL;DR I’m not sure what I’m doing but this stuff seems to help me!

Treasure from Belgium! I recently ordered some comics from L’Horrible Jean that arrived yesterday!

I have really wanted to support Mortis Ghost; I really like his style and I think he’s got an interesting sense of humor (plus the enjoyment procured from playing OFF is near criminal). I was really happy to see his comics up for grabs on the webshop.

I was really excited about Le Monstre de Feu, as Mortis has colored pages of Les Cavaliers du Ciel on his blog and I was really curious about this comic! (Also, it comes with a little adorable color pencil set?!) This comic was really charming and beautifully drawn— I was really invested in their adventures!

The other zines in this batch were also amazing- they are dense with comics and illustrations and are really interesting and inspiring to look at.

First off let me say how much I love your work, not only Starfighter but also Girl and Machine as well as Miss Petrova and her soldier. 2 things I was wondering about. Do Miss Petrova and Starfighter happen in the same universe? Also is there anything about Miss Petrova and her Soldier you would be willing to share? I love them an irrational amount considering how little there is of them.

Oh gosh, the Soldier and Miss Petrova— I miss drawing them! I’m really happy that you like them.. please accept this little Soldier drawing as a humble apology for their absence!

To answer your questions: they are not in the same world as Starfighter! The Soldier’s story exists as an AU Russian history in which the Soldier is raised in a military complex with fifteen others where they eat/breathe/live combat training. They are kind of scary and new and the army is excited about their little experiment.

The Soldier is the strategist of the group and the one who orchestrates the group’s eventual defect.

She’s usually quiet, preoccupied, clever, and perhaps a bit impatient. When I first started thinking on the idea, I knew I wanted this stiff military character to have a heated romantic fling with someone completely her opposite, like Miss Petrova. (They meet at some fancy military gala and this pretty much happens) Part of the impetus for the Soldier’s defection is in realizing she could never be allowed to freely be with Miss Petrova under the military’s supervision.

I like exploring them for female romance even though, perhaps overall, IN THEORY, the story wouldn’t be as sexually orientated as something like Starfighter.

This is all just rough story ideas, of course! Thank you so much for your interest in them!

Heh, Cain would like to think he knows a lot about life on Earth from movies.. but he really just has a vague idea of what goes on there.

You are right to guess he wouldn’t know too much about either! He doesn’t know how to swim and he doesn’t know too many animals besides a small variety of Earth-imports.

Oh, gosh, Yaoicon used to be in San Francisco and I attended there for three years in a row! However, it’s since moved I don’t know of any other bay area cons! Fanime would probably be the closest I could attend!

Thank you for the kind words, I’m really glad you’re enjoying Starfighter! I have four chapters planned, although.. that number might change! (Starfighter was originally going to be a quick ten-page experiment, so I am not very good at length estimations) And yes, the ending has been decided on!

Hello! Ah, I think my job would go faster if I had some assistance! Although, I can’t imagine running a donation campaign for that purpose.

The pages are kind of intricate (even though that was something I was hoping to avoid when I first started Starfighter!) and they just require time to draw. Unfortunately for now, that’s kind of my pace on my lonesome, but hopefully someday that can change! I hope that answers your inquiries!♥
